Gala Wilton’s new joint head coach, Harrison Ward, has teamed up with Gloucester City chairman, Colin Taylor’s son, Josh Taylor, to guide the Gloucestershire side away from relegation danger.
Ward, 31, commented on being paired with Josh and what the future may bring, “Josh is a really good coach from what I can see, he’s tactically aware, and he knows what he’s talking about.
“I hope we will help each other to get an understanding of what we’ve got, what’s relevant to the needs of the team that we are coming up against and what we can learn.”

The ties to Gloucester City Football Club with Taylor can be used as a platform to ‘learn’ in the eye’s of Ward.
“What have they got at Gloucester City? How do they run? How can we match it? In terms of professionalism and how you want to lay things out, that is what I will be looking to learn.”
Gala have now lost 13 straight games in the Gloucestershire County League and are facing the dooming prospect of relegation. They are second from bottom, 1 point off the drop with just 10 games left of the season.
“I don’t think the team is a million miles away from turning it around so, we are going to look for some new signing’s, and I reckon if we get one or two experienced heads in, I think we will be able to turn it around quite quickly.

“I’m really confident with what I can bring. Me and Josh are on the phone everyday. We are working quite well together. If I can coach and get people at training and get some togetherness. I’m really confident that we can turn our fortunes around and get the points that we need to get out of trouble and plan for next year.”
Ward won 20 out of 22 games at Tewkesbury Football Club before a falling out saw him leave the club for Gala, in which he has now spent two weeks at the club.
Getting the players battle ready, could be a tough ask with just over two months to go.
“We are just a really young squad, with a lack of experience, and the county league’s are full of experience teams who know how to win games and there is a togetherness with most of them.
“We do have quality in the squad. We have plenty of the ball. We just don’t have enough in the final third.

“For me, it’s how do you be compact? How do we create chances in that final third to score more goals and to try and stop the other team from scoring and stop leaking.
“We have to do that quickly and I think we (Josh and I), have identified what we need and what we should do going forward.”
Gala make the 7 mile journey south to Quedgeley Wanderers for a relegation six-pointer as both of the bottom clubs search for a crucial win. Ward’s side will be looking for their first away points of the season.
