Gloucester City defender Ben Richards-Everton was “happy to get the job done” as his side won on penalties at Arbour Park to reach the next round of the FA trophy. The Tigers eagerly await their next opponent in the draw tonight.
Everton admitted it was a tough challenge against a side in the national league south outfit Slough Town.
“I think we’re slightly disappointed with our performance, in the grand scheme of things it’s probably a fair result going to penalties in the end. They had a few chances and I felt we rode our luck at times.”
The 90 finished 1-1 with Marcus Day finding the net from a corner towards the back end of the first half. However, half time substitute Ansu Janneh nicked the equaliser for Slough Town and saw it go to penalties.

Unwanted drama behind the goal occurred midway through the penalty shootout but BRE was never in doubt.
“Credit to the lads, I had every faith in us, Jarrad is brilliant at penalties. The main thing is we got the job done, we’re into the next round and it’s exciting now to see who we’re going to get next.”
Ben Richards-Everton missed the first two months with injury and now believes he’s “Getting back up to speed again”.

“I missed a large proportion of the start of this season, so I’m just trying to get back up to speed. I’ve been slightly disappointed because I feel like I’m letting people down and I’m desperate to be involved.”
Gloucester city will travel away to Basingstoke on Tuesday with kick off at 19:45 and Richards-Everton spoke on preparing for that game.
“We’re doing really well in the league, but we’re always looking for things we can improve on. It’s another massive game.
“We’ve instilled a winning mentality. That’s what wins you leagues. The manager is a winner, as are the staff. We need this winning mentality if we want to win this league, not get into the playoffs.
“Nothing’s a given, they’re a good side.”
Gloucester will await their next FA trophy game with Forest Green Rovers, Leamington, Dorking Wanderers still in the competition as GCAFC head into the round of 64.
