Constitution Hill may have stolen the headlines yesterday, but plenty of celebrities also caught the eye at Prestbury Park on the first day of the 2023 Cheltenham Festival
Mike and Zara Tindall – Royalty
In keeping with tradition, the royals attended the first day of the festival and caught the eye. Zara wowed in an matching elegant burgundy overcoat and headpiece, while husband Mike kept it classy with a classic navy suit with a tie that matched his wife’s colour scheme.
Carol Vorderman – Public figure
The former countdown presenter, and now well-known public figure is an ever-present at the Festival, and caught the eye of the paparazzi from up on the balcony during the brief glimpse of sunshine yesterday.
The 62 year old was sporting an audacious headpiece, whilst she flaunted her figure in a leather skirt as she watched the drama unfold on the first day of the biggest week in the racing calendar.
Charles Piutau, Max Lahiff, Chris Vui, Sam Bedlow – Bristol Bears
Bristol Bears have been flying in recent weeks in the Gallagher Premiership, and some of the players were rewarded with a day off the training paddock at Ashton Gate, in exchange for the paddocks inside Cheltenham as four of their star players were spotted enjoying the festivities yesterday.
After winning their last four games in the League, it is safe to say the boys from Bristol aren’t horsing around, as shown on Chris Vui’s Instagram story.
Laura Woods – Sport presenter
After establishing herself as one of the nation’s most popular presenters, Talksport’s Laura Woods made an appearance at the races, tweeting a photo of herself soaking up the atmosphere.
With the broadcaster providing daily breakfast shows from the town, it is no surprised she took to social media to share her attendance.
Matt Hancock – Former MP
Perhaps one of the most infamous faces to have graced the racecourse with his presence on day one, the former Health secretary was spotted on his way into Cheltenham by a punter who was lucky enough to catch his entrance on film.
It remains to be seen if the disgraced ex-politician will make a second appearance at Prestbury later this week.
Cheltenham Town FC
With just 1.2 miles separating the racecourse and The Completely-Suzuki Stadium, it is no surprise that the squad made the short trip to maintain the tradition within the club of enjoying a day out at the course, rather than on the training pitch.
After a superb 3-0 away win to rivals Peterborough on Saturday, spirits were high amongst the group as Irish players including Club Captain Sean Long and youngster Aidan Keena brought their luck of the Irish to the fore as they saw five winners of the seven races come from their homeland.
