Formula One: Austrian Grand Prix renewed until 2027

Formula One has announced that it has renewed its contract to keep racing in Austria until 2027.

The Red Bull Ring, the home race of Red Bull Racing, is one of the fastest tracks on the calendar, with the fastest lap at the track being recording by Carlos Sainz during his McLaren days back in 2020, with the Spaniard recording a 1:05:619 lap time.

303,000 fans made the trip to Austria over last year’s race weekend, with the track being initially introduced during the 2014 season.

Reports that the circuit was set to expire in 2023, so there were fears that it would be omitted from the calendar from 2024 onwards, but those have been put to bed.

Belgium’s Spa-Francorchamps circuit is the next in need of a renewal, with its one-year extension set to come to an end after the current season.
