Former Forest Green Rovers Keeper Robert Sanchez Earns Spain Call-Up

Former Forest Green Rovers loanee Robert Sanchez has been called up to the Spanish national team replacing Chelsea’s Kepa Arrizabalaga.

The Brighton goalkeeper has been called up by Luis Enrique for Spain’s 2022 Qatar World Cup qualifiers versus Greece, Georgia and Kosovo.

Sanchez is one of three goalkeepers to feature in the squad joining David De Gea (Manchester United) and Unai Simon (Athletic Bilbao).

The goalkeeper played 17 games during his career at Rovers managing to keep two clean sheets, his efforts led to him being recalled by his parent club Brighton at the end of the 2018/19 season.

The Spaniard has featured for Brighton in Premier League this season and despite his sides struggles the young keeper has managed six clean sheets so far.

Prior to re-joining Brighton from Rovers, Sanchez was loaned out to Rochdale AFC for the rest of the season, where he managed to keep nine clean sheets for the club in 35 apperances.
