England Squad – Three Players Who Could Receive Their First Call Up

With the final international break of the season looming, England will be announcing their squad for the upcoming clashes with Italy and Ukraine at 2pm today.

With that in mind, let’s take a look at three players who have never been called up to the Three Lions Squad, who Gareth Southgate should consider getting on the phone to ahead of the upcoming Euro 2024 qualifiers.

Solly March

Solly March has had an excellent season for high-flying Brighton and he’s not showing any signs of slowing down as the Seagulls hunt down European football.

He may not the youngest of players but the winger has seven goals as well as four assists in 25 appearances in the Premier League this season.

March has created 12 big chances this season and despite not being the most conventional of picks for Southgate’s squad, should certainly be considered for his first call up considering the season he’s having.

Max Kilman

Over the last few seasons Max Kilman has firmly come into the limelight in the Premier League putting in some stellar performances at the back for Wolves; he many will be surprised that he hasn’t yet received his first Three Lions call up.

Despite Wolves’ struggles this season, they have managed to keep seven clean sheets when Kilman has played, and for a side that is battling relegation, that is a very impressive stat.

Kilman himself has 157 recoveries, 109 duels won as well as 59 aerial battles won and with no clear defensive line-up in Southgate’s backline there is every chance that Kilman could throw himself into the mixer.

Michael Olise

A player who, despite popular belief, is still eligible to play for England having only played for France at youth level making two appearances each for the under-18 and under-21 sides.

Olise is technically eligible for four countries, having been born in London to a Nigerian father and French-Algerian mother.

There’s certainly no denying Olise’s talent, a player who has plenty of flair and is an absolute joy to watch with the ball at his feet.

Olise has two goals and five assists this season but as we’ve seen many times is very capable when it comes to set pieces. The midfielder scored a delightful free kick against Manchester United, as well as an impressive assist from a corner for Eze against Bournemouth on New Years Eve.

While still eligible, Olise is certainly worth consideration by Southgate, with the creative ability that he possesses he could end up being a game changer for the Three Lions.
