Chelsea announced this morning that 19-year-old winger Callum Hudson-Odoi has been tested positive for COVID-19.
The England winger was said to be showing signs of the virus on Monday, and since then has not been at their Surrey training ground as a precaution.
Hudson-Odoi posted an update on his condition via Twitter this morning:
The men’s first team building at the training ground has undergone a deep clean and is now closed. Chelsea players and staff who’ve had contact with Hudson-Odoi are now in self-isolation, following Government guidelines.
Chelsea insisted that despite the diagnosis, the player is doing well:
Callum is doing well and looking forward to returning to the training ground as soon as possible. We wish Callum a speedy recovery and look forward to welcoming him back to the club soon.’Chelsea FC
The news comes hours after Arsenal announced that head coach, Mikel Arteta, also tested positive for COVID-19.
Arsenal’s visit to Brighton and Hove Albion this weekend has been postponed, with other games likely to be cancelled too with the Premier League and representatives from all 20 clubs due to hold an emergency meeting this morning,
