2:00 Arkle Novices’ Chase
Winner – Kargese 12/1
Willie Mullins secured his first winner of the 2026 Cheltenham Festival as Kargese held on to defeat 11/8 favourite Kopek Des Bordes and 6/1 shot Lulamba.
Kargese set the pace from the front for much of the race, while Kopek Des Bordes and Lulamba tracked the leaders from midfield before launching their challenges with a few fences remaining.
The trio approached the final fence almost level, but Kargese produced a perfect jump and found another gear on the run-in to pull clear and secure Danny Mullins’ first Arkle Chase.

1:20 Sky Bet Supreme Novices
Winner – Old Park Star 3/1
Favourite Old Park Star claimed victory in the opening race of the Cheltenham Festival after a dramatic finish.
9/2 Sober Glory set the early pace, leading the field through the opening stages ahead of the heavily backed favourite Old Park Star.
The Nicky Henderson-trained runner remained firmly in contention throughout, staying close to the leader as the race unfolded.
Sober Glory continued to dictate the tempo before the contest burst into life at the final phase, where Old Park Star and 7/1 Mydaddypaddy both launched late challenges.
Through slight contact, Old Park Star found another gear in the closing strides to hold on and secure victory from Sober Glory and Mydaddypaddy.
Despite the controversial ending, trainer of third-placed Mydaddypaddy Dan Skelton told ITV Sport: “We are not going to object to the bump. It wouldn’t be in the spirit of the Cheltenham Festival.”

Winner- Johnnywho 18/1
JP McManus was celebrating for a second successive race after Johnnywho stormed through in the closing stages to claim a narrow win.

In second place came the favourite 3/1 shot Jagwar, with Quebecois in third at 10/1.
Jockey Richie McLernon told ITV: “I felt the ground was a little quick but it just unfolded for me. He jumped when I needed him to and he responded.”
