Swindon Town Women have announced the recruitment of Johnny House as the club’s new assistant manager this season.
House will work alongside first-team manager Richard Wood, who took on the managerial role earlier this season.
Town appointed manager Richard Wood in late September after the departure of Mike Cook, who took the managerial role at National League North Side Gloucester City.
The 28-year-old has joined the club from Tier 5 Warminster Town and has previously faced Swindon Town as head coach of Larkhall Athletic in the FAWNL.
House is seen as having bright prospects at his former clubs, from his first role at Royal Wootton Bassett Town Ladies before moving onto Larkhall Athletic.
Upon joining Swindon, House said, “It has been a busy last week. I am getting to know how Swindon do things, what they are good at, and what they can improve on, taking everything in bit by bit.
It’s been good down in Wiltshire. Everyone has been very welcoming; all the players and all the staff have been supportive, so it has been a really good first week.”
House officially began his role at the club last weekend in Town’s 4-0 victory against Torquay United in the latest league fixture.
Town’s assistant manager was very pleased for his first game in charge and believes this is the start of something new.
“I feel really good. We spoke about a few things in the changing room, and they came out and delivered everything I had mentioned, which is a really good start for me as well as the girls.
I have only been here for a week and it is good to see what the team and the staff provide and I think my partnership with Richard will help reinforce the girls performances and go far this season.”
Newly appointed first-team manager, Wood said: “With Johnny’s support, he is a fantastic coach, and this will mean we can really step up going into the new year.
We are looking to improve on a lot of things, and I think Johnny has all the capability to do so and can’t wait to get started with him full time this season.
It has been easy so far for me and Johnny, but it is quite early for Johnny and needs to settle himself in. We have great staff already, and as a manager, I have a lot of opinions which will be good for me to bounce off those ideas with Johnny.
It is hoped that the new recruitment will be a big move to help push Swindon Town Women into the high ends of the FAWNL table this season.
