Bashley vs Evesham United Match Report

Evesham United keep their unbeaten record this year drawing 1-1 to Bashley FC in what was a tight affair against a side near the drop.

The first 20 minutes were largely dominated by The Robins but couldn’t find the back of the net despite holding most of the ball.

Just under 15 minutes later, a vital player for Evesham this season in Daniel Djurovic had to be brought off due to what appeared to be around the ankle area and was replaced by former Oxford United player Will Owens.

Not long after this substitution, Ben Taylor pulled off a decent stop and the rebound was met by a Bashley attacker who somehow hit it wide with shouts of offside from the Evesham defence; the flag was not risen.

There was a staggering six minutes of injury time and three minutes in, Bashley took the lead thanks to Luke Delaney’s calm finish into the bottom corner.

Then with the last kick of the half Evesham United captain Amer Awadh equalised for the visitors with a lovely finish after it was chested down by striker Levi Steele.

The second half was full of chances and the first stand out chance came 12 minutes in and went in favour of Bashley.

A volley was struck and was goal bound but due to an outstretched leg the back of the net wasn’t hit.

Two minutes after a similar chance went in the way of Evesham and this time it fell to Alfie Dunn, but his volley was also blocked.

Shouts from the Bashley fans could be heard for a red card for Michael O’Regan after he grabbed the Bashley attacker who looked to be through on goal but only a yellow was given.

This moment provided to be crucial because in the late stages, a ball was whipped in to the Evesham box and headed over the keeper, and if it wasn’t for the heroics of Michael O’Regan Evesham would’ve lost this game.

Speaking after the game, Mike Ford said “The game was stretched the whole 90 minutes and we never really felt comfortable.

“There are times where we give away a free kick and we don’t deal with it and we’re having to clear it and then its ricocheting about”.

Speaking about goal scorer Amer Awadh “We had a chat with all the forwards, and I think he’s on around five or six but has to be hitting at least double figures so that goal today helps”.

Regarding injuries as well Evesham had two worries after the game today after Djurovic was brought off and O’Regan having a head injury towards the end. Ford said, “Fingers crossed they’ll be back quickly; Michael I think will be okay for Tuesday but when you have to come off with an injury in Djuro’s case I don’t think he will be available Tuesday but we
