What impacts could Gloucestershire Cricket’s cancelled pre-season tour have on their season

Gloucestershire Cricket are back in Division one of the County Championship for the first time since since 2004.

The Bristol-based side finished third in Division Two last season on 182 points, going up alongside Northamptonshire and Warwickshire.

However, the club have been forced to cancel their pre-season tour to La Manga as a result of the COVID-19 outbreak.

The team were due to fly out to Spain next Wednesday for a training camp, as well as featuring in some friendlies against Glamorgan before making a return to Bristol on 27 March.

Richard Dawson’s side are set to face Cardiff University on April 2nd before starting their domestic season with a trip to Headingley to face Yorkshire.

The club’s first home game upon their return to the top division, comes a week later when they host Lancashire.

Impacts from tour cancellation

The tour being cancelled has had major implications on Gloucestershire’s preparations for the season, having to prepare for the season in with indoor nets with the season just a matter of weeks away.
