Ethan Staddon shared the ‘family mentality’ as Bath Rugby fought back from a 21-0 deficit to overcome Harlequins 39-28 at The Recreation Ground.
The Blue Black and White will be travelling to Newcastle to face-off against the Falcons at the Kingston Park Stadium in the semi-finals of the Premiership Rugby Cup.

Staddon was pleased with the changes made during the contest: “Harlequins came with a certain intensity, they wanted to play their game.
“I think we de-briefed at half-time and made some substitutions and we were able to play our game in the second-half and really show what weโre about โ powerful players and exerting some dominance.
“There was a big momentum shift. I think we took too long to find our feet and build some stride but once we got the momentum we needed we were able to get on top.
“The crowd certainly helped out and came alive in that second-half and we were able to pull together. We debriefed it after the game and despite our average age going up in that second-half, itโs all about family.
“As a team, the connections that weโve got between even the youngest weโve got to the oldest guys were just pulling together and working for each other.
“Rugby is never straightforward, thereโs always chaos, and I think it comes down to how you can pull through, how can you figure things out on the move and during the game.
“You can go off on your own and thatโs how things start crumbling down and you start compounding errors, hence why we have our commands under the posts.
“Our next job and the mentality is about cleaning the slate and not putting any pressure on one individual after whatever has just unraveled.”

Looking ahead to the Newcastle game, Staddon spoke highly of the opposition: “Newcastle, is a long way away โ Iโve played there before back when I was 18 in the Prem (Premiership) โ and I distinctly remember itโs a very tough game.
“Youโve got to travel up all the way and then come up against a firing Newcastle side. Itโs gonna take another big job again; but we come in on Monday, we debrief, we clean the slate, and we go again.
