Cheltenham Saracens will be the more disappointed of the two teams following a 1-1 draw against Malmesbury Vics, extending their winless run at The Big Local to five games.
Malmesbury opened the scoring with Chris Zebroski pressing a deep Saracens clearance, making a clean breakaway from the defenders, before a smart finish saw him slot the ball under Joseph Wright.
Saracens weren’t behind for long however, with an impressive free kick crossed in by Coby Handley found top scorer Ryan Dobbins free in the box, whose powerful header drew the proceedings level.
Both teams continued to push for a winner, both having a number of half chances, but some strong defending and a missing final pass saw the game finish level.
The result means that with two away games to go, The Sarries currently sit fifth in the table, with their next game against top of the league Studley.
Saracens started the strongest of the two teams, with a superb through ball from Austin Parker sent Harry Duncan through on goal, but the forward’s effort was directed towards the keeper.
Both teams struggled for a final ball for much of the game, with the defences of both teams remaining strong and leaving little space to exploit.
A slow start to the second half reflected much of the first, with both teams controlling the ball well in the midfield, but unable to find a breakthrough past either side.
Saracens gradually began to take a slight hold on the game, with a dangerous looking free-kick from Handley taking a heavy deflection and neutralising the issue, much to the keepers relief.
Saracens continued to search for their second, with a late flurry of chances saw both Hoskins and Dobbins having decent opportunities, but the rock-solid Vics defence were able to get the ball away on both occasions.
The home side nearly had a late winner with the last chance of the day, with Hoskins sending another ball onto Whelan, who in turn sends his cross across goal onto a sliding Richmond, who is unable to connect cleanly, with his effort wide of the mark.
