“As you can imagine this thing is a portable sauna, it’s incredibly hot,” says Terry Rex, Cheltenham Park Run participant and Guinness World Record holder.
Arnie Delstanche, aka Terry Rex, entered the infamous Guinness Book of World Records following his marathon in Tromso, Norway.
“Last year I thought, where’s cold, so that I can attempt a world record, so I went to the Arctic Circle and managed to run a marathon in this costume, in four hours and seven minutes, beating the previous record by seven minutes.”
On Sunday April 26, ‘Terry Rex’ also took part in the London Marathon where he raised money for Cancer Research UK, but Delstanche doesn’t plan on stopping there.
“I was interviewed by the BBC and asked where’s next, as if the London Marathon wasn’t hard enough, and after talking about locations around the world West Africa became the perfect location for me to foolishly say yes to.”
“So, I’ve said on Live TV that I’m going to and now I’m fully committed, so two weeks to go.”
However, he went on to admit that “at some point I have to draw the line at what’s truly insanity and I think I’ve already passed it, but I think this will definitely be the hardest challenge, and the last stupidly hard challenge.”
So, will West Africa see Delstanche give up the ‘Terry Rex’ persona for good?
