Cinderford Town manager, Matthew Driscoll states that all his side can do to keep momentum is to “keep winning” after their win on Saturday.
After a struggle to the start of the season, Cinderford Town see themselves at the bottom of the table on 20 points. However, the momentum has started to churn as they have now gone three games unbeaten, with one of these being a huge 3-1 win against Shaftesbury on Saturday afternoon.
“I’m really impressed with the guys. We have played well since Boxing Day against Malvern, so coming away last week disappointed with the 1-1. We went to Shaftesbury at the start of the season, I think we lost 4-1, and they totally dominated.
“We know they want to play football, they tried to play football today, and I thought the first half we dominated, winning at half-time. I couldn’t say a lot to the guys, to be honest, there’s not that much that I could say to really change,” he grinned.

After being 1-0 up in the first half, Cinderford continued to take advantage in the second half as Shaftesbury went a man down in the 70th minute, however were lucky to not have had a second with a very poor two footed-challenge on Dale Evans.
“It got a bit touchy towards the end, they should have had two men sent off, but it was good we had to win today because going by the results, Thatcher won and Tavistock won, so we’ve got a fighting chance now.
“I thought the challenge was very, very poor, it’s a leg-breaker, I think the ref knew, maybe that’s why he gave the second yellow to them, but that’s a red card all day,” Driscoll stated.
The Cinderford manager, emphasised that even though the beginning of the season has been tough his squad have been finding ground and playing well since the beginning of this year especially against those further up the table.
“We’ve got to continue the momentum, momentum, look at the games we’ve had, apart from Exmouth which we’ve lost, we’ve played well, we’ve played Melksham, we’ve played Bristol Manor Farm, and they’re all up there.
He continued by saying: ” I really thought we were good today, so that’s all we can do is keep winning, keep fighting and have a go, that’s all I’ll say to the guys, win or lose, as long as you give 100%, it happens in football.”

Driscoll continued to pray hopeful that the team can continue their momentum as they head into Tuesday evening as they welcome third place Evesham United to the Causeway.
“Evesham are in the play-offs, so they’re going to come here and they’re going to be in for a tough task, don’t get me wrong, they are where they are because they’re a good team, and we are where we are because we’ve been poor and that’s just on paper, so we’ve just got to get over it, and if we play like we did tonight, we’ll have a go at anyone, and hopefully we continue doing some well on Tuesday,” he said with hope.

As there is only one point difference for Cinderford to move from the bottom of the table, they look to continue their unbeaten streak on Tuesday in hopes of getting themselves out of the relegation zone.
