Rob Edwards on Leyton Orient, Kenny Jacket and Udoka Godwin-Malife as table topping Forest Green faces the O’s

Forest Green Rovers went four points clear at the top of Sky Bet League Two after their 2-0 away win against Scunthorpe at Glanford Park on Saturday. It’s a quick turnaround for the Rovers as they face Kenny Jacket’s Leyton Orient at Brisbane Road and Rob Edwards has spoken ahead of tomorrow nights game.

Talking about Orient and the game tomorrow Edward’s said,

“We’re expecting a very well organised unit, they’ve got clear threats with the likes of Harry Smith up front. They like to get the ball out to the wide players and get it into the box. They’ll be looking to go for it I think and get the crowd going so we’ll have to be ready for that early on. I think both sides will match up well against each other. There is definitely similarities between the two sides. I think it will be a good game, I think both sides will look to get on the front foot and it will be a good one to watch.”

Edwards has admitted that he is looking forward to being reunited on the sidelines with O’s manager Kenny Jacket. Edwards worked under Jacket at Wolves as the u18’s manager in 2016. Asked about facing his former mentor he said,

“Kenny and his assistant Joe are two people I’ve got a huge amount of respect for. I was lucky enough to be able to work with them. I learnt a lot from being around them and I’m very grateful I was able to spend some time with them and I look forward to seeing them.”

Edwards was also able to provide an injury update for his squad ahead of Tuesday’s match. Centre back Dan Sweeney picked up an injury against Carlisle.

“I think it will be too soon for him, he’s seeing someone on Thursday and then we’ll know more.”

However there was better news regarding Udoka Godwin-Malife who has been out since August with a broken collarbone. Godwin-Malife was on ther bench at the weekend and Edwards confirmed his availability.

“He’s in the mix to be selected, he’s been working really hard so it’s great that he’s available for us again.”

Forest Green Rovers face Leyton Orient on Tuesday night with Edwards’ side looking to increase their lead at the top of Sky Bet League Two .
