Following the Isuzu FA Trophy draw, Gloucester City’s Chris Hill gave his reaction.
The Tigers drew an away fixture to National League South side Chippenham Town in the Third Proper Round on the December 9th.
Immediately after the draw, Hill said: “ To be honest I thought they had lost our ball when we were not drawn out right until last, I’m sure it will be an interesting game.”
“A number of players have moved between both clubs and obviously we re-signed a few players earlier this season which will add into this fixture.”
Stand-in captain Joe Hanks, Joe Parker and Spencer Hamilton all re-joined Gloucester this year from Chippenham Town.
“It would have been nice to have a home fixture but a tie with such interest and so close to home is the next best thing for me. I’m sure the atmosphere will be cracking and I expect a good away following to support us.”
Gloucester managed to progress further into the Isuzu FA Trophy after a strong 3-0 win against Braintree Town.
Goals from Joe Parker, Ben Beresford and Brandon Smalley helped City move on in the cup competition despite the clubs poor recent display in league action.
Last year the Tigers made it to the round of 32 where they took a heavy 5-1 away loss to Gateshead, with Odabeyi Tope scoring the only goal for City that game.
This year’s draw has been split into two sides, one being northern, and the other southern which Cook’s side has been put into.
The draw took place live at 3:15pm on talkSPORT2 Monday afternoon, with Gloucester given the number 14 ball where the Tigers drew Chippenham Town late on.
Gloucester City has played The BlueBirds on five occasions, with both sides winning two and one game being drawn. The most previous result between the two teams came back in 2018 where Chippenham got the better of Gloucetser in a 1-0 win.
Three games are still yet to be played, Leiston host Peterborough Sports whilst Welling United welcome Taunton Town on Tuesday, and Wednesday Bognor Regis take on South Park.
Other National League North sides in the competition consist of Scunthorpe, Chorley, Blyth, Southport, Brackley, Bishop’s Stortford and Hereford.
All other fixtures have been announced and are set to be played on the weekend of December 9th.
