Forest Green Rovers progressed to the final of the Gloucestershire Senior Challenge County Cup after beating Yate Town 2-0 at The New Lawn on Tuesday evening.
Goals from Christian Doidge and Nick Haughton were enough to see off the Southern League Premier Division side on a wet night in Nailsworth.
Doidge opened the scoring for the hosts on the half-hour mark after tapping in from close range.
Rovers doubled their lead just five minutes later as Nick Haughton powered forward from midfield, dribbling into the final third and finishing past Aaron Sainsbury in the Yate Town goal.
Forest Green Rovers manager Robbie Savage played a strong side as an attempt to give minutes to those in need, ahead of the final stretch in the National League, where they are attempting to secure play-offs.
Jordan Moore-Taylor and Ryan Inniss both gained valuable minutes after returning from long-term injury absences, the former from a broken ankle, which has seen him out of action for over 3 months.
Forest Green return to league action on Saturday in a huge clash away at Roots Hall as they face Southend United, who are also in contention for the play-offs.
