Cheltenham Town Ladies assistant manager Megan Harding hoping for repeat of Hashtag United success

Cheltenham Town Ladies assistant manager Megan Harding says her team are “up for it” against second in the league Hashtag United on their final game of the 23/24 season.

The Robinessess were challenged with a tricky final two games of the season as they looked to challenge first and second, Portsmouth and Hashtag United.

Despite being overturned by Portsmouth 5-0 earlier in the season, Harding’s team went toe to toe with the league champions.

“Firstly congratulations to Portsmouth,” Harding said. “They thoroughly deserved to win the league, by far the most consistent team this year, I wish them and their staff the best of luck in what next year holds.

“We’re really happy, pleased with the performance and made it a really good game for all the fans that came. In the first half I think we out performed them and we were unlucky not to hold on to a point or even steal three points,”

“We played our game, we made some silly mistakes and errors that lead to goals but overall we played really well. We had a good performance. We went ahead twice, we could have kept the ball a bit more and calmed down a bit.

New signing Megan Attenborough wasn’t there in their previous meeting against the Tags but made the improvements clear ahead of their final game.

“We need to play how we played today and cut out the errors that we made,” Attenborough said. “We passed the ball well, went forward well, we pressed hard, everybody needs to put in a good shift.

I am hoping next season I can break into the starting 11 and become a consist player here, I have been here for two weeks and loving it.

In the previous meeting between the two sides ended in a 1-0 victory thanks to a late winner from Lue Broke.

With Hashtag guaranteed to finish second place, It’s all down to the Robinessess to secure 7th position with Cardiff City breathing down their necks.
