Bath Director of Rugby Stuart Hooper on new signings Jordan Venter and Tom Prydie

Bath Director of Rugby Stuart Hooper has spoken glowingly of new Bath signings Jordan Venter and Tom Prydie as the side makes efforts to bolster their backline following injury issues.

Venter arrives from Edinburgh Rugby after being targeted by the Blue, Black and White for over a year, with the 19-year-old coming in as a long-term project that will cover for potential international call-ups in the Bath midfield, with the likes of Cam Redpath, Jonathan Joseph and Max Ojomoh all in the picture.

Hooper said “He is a dynamic young centre who can play on the wing and he is someone we have seen potential in for a long time.

“We have met him a couple of times and watched him play a lot and now he has joined us and will be putting his hand up for selection pretty soon I would say.”

The former Bath lock added “It is about making sure we have got a competitive squad for training, so we have competition there and can push each other.

“He is very ambitious and very hungry and has a lot of the attributes we look for off the field as well.”

Prydie meanwhile most recently was on the field in a Scarlets shirt, and has signed a short-term deal following a successful trial period providing injury cover for Bath’s backline in training following Anthony Watson’s ACL injury against Saracens in October.

Hooper said on the signing “He is obviously an experienced international player, he has played in the Premiership and with the Scarlets and Dragons as well.

“He has come in on a trial and he is quick, he is very committed and he has added a really experienced head in training.

“He is someone we have been impressed with so far.”
