Cheltenham Town sign former Salford winger on short term deal

Cheltenham Town have announced the signing of experienced winger Hakeeb Adelakun on an initial short term deal until January.

The 29-year-old arrives in Gloucestershire after a standout campaign for Salford City where he netted 13 times in 30 appearances.

Many Robins fans will recognise the Hackney-born attacker from Town’s 2-1 defeat to The Ammies last season when Adelakun scored twice off the bench.

Adelakun made his first EFL appearances at Scunthorpe United where he spent six years for The Iron before moving to Bristol City.

During his time in Bristol, Adelakun enjoyed loan spells at Rotherham United and Hull City.

He then spent three years at Lincoln City, where he scored five times in 44 appearances with loan moves to Gillingham and Doncaster Rovers before settling at Salford.

Adelakun will wear the number 31 shirt and is available for selection for tonight’s League Two clash against Notts County.
