Cheltenham Town’s next two Sky Bet League Two fixtures against Barrow AFC and Carlisle United have had to be suspended due to a COVID-19 outbreak within the squad.
They were due to play those games on Tuesday and Saturday respectively, but the matches have been called off and will be rearranged.
Robins players Scott Flinders and George Lloyd tested positive at the team hotel before the game against Forest Green Rovers last Saturday.
A further two backroom staff also missed the fixture for the exact same reason.
However, it wasn’t until after this morning’s round of testing that the decision to suspend this week’s matches was made to avoid further infections.
A club statement has been issued and reads as follows; “Cheltenham Town’s next two Sky Bet League Two fixtures against Barrow AFC (Tuesday 2 February) and Carlisle United (Saturday 6 February) have been suspended.
“The Club informed the EFL that they would be unable to fulfil the fixtures following recent positive COVID-19 tests and the requirement for players and staff to self-isolate as per EFL and Government guidance in order to mitigate against the risk of further infection.
“The circumstances surrounding the postponements will now be the subject of an investigation in accordance with EFL Regulations.
