Cheltenham’s answer to the fastest growing sport in the UK, The Padel Club

After Gloucester opened up a nine court Padel venue in 2022, neighbours Cheltenham opened up a smaller sister branch with four courts in early 2025.

Club Assistant Amie Glover, spoke on all the different types of people who use the variety of facilities that The Padel Club has to offer.

“We range from beginners up to intermediates, they’re quite advanced players, playing three or four times a week, they’re really good.”

However, you don’t have to be advanced, or even have played before as they have “Head Coach Artulo” who provides sessions for people of any ability from, “the younger generation, through to seniors.”

Even if you don’t want to play Padel they still have plenty of facilities avaliable, from a cafe/bar ran by Amie, plus lots of seating and wifi for people to work remotely.

“Its not just somewhere to play Padel, its more of a community thing, we get a lot of people coming in to sit and chat, also good WiFi things like that”.

The Gloucester branch has four coaches and nine courts, however if you want a more muted, quieter environment than the Cheltenham branch has everything you’re looking for.

“You don’t have to come with friends either as if you want to go alone but still practice, you can book sessions with other solo players, making it a great place to meet people.”

And if you need any motivation, just ask Amie;

“I had never played before I started working here around six months ago, and now every time someone needs an extra player, I’m the first person with my hand up, its turned my job into a hobby.”
