Tiger Woods equals PGA Tour title record after Zozo win

American golfer Tiger Woods has equaled the record for most PGA Tour title wins after winning the Zozo Championship in Japan.

The current record was held by Sam Snead when he won his 82nd title back in 1965, with Woods also being just three major titles short of legendary golfer Jack Nicklaus, who has 18.

Woods secured his 82nd PGA Tour title on Monday as he had seven holes to finish on the day. It was the 43-year-old’s first tournament since his knee operation nine weeks ago.

“The body can’t do what it used to but I can still think my way around the golf course,” Woods said at the press conference after his record-tying win.

“I know how to play and I was able to do that this week. There was a time if I didn’t know if I would play again so I am very appreciative.”

Woods’ operation was the fifth one on his right knee, but he’ll take comfort in the fact Snead won his 82nd title at 52 years old and Nicklaus won his final major title at 46.
