University of Gloucestershire Men’s Rugby Union first team moved off the foot of the BUCS Western 1A table with a big 20-10 victory in their ‘David vs Goliath’ fixture over bath 3rd’s at the Prince of Wales Stadium on Wednesday.
The game had been called off on Tuesday 12 December prior to the sides last fixture of 2017 on Wednesday but due to heavy rainfall overnight the pitch was cleared of snow and sufficient to play on.
Chris Downes’ side have won their last three games on the trot and confidence over surviving relegation will now be restored to the side that finished in second place last season.

First team Captain George West expressed his delight with the win and the attitude his players showed to overcome adversity.
He said: “Is it on, is it off, we are so glad they allowed us to play today. Our confidence is high and if we had have waited for it to be rescheduled then who knows what the result would have been.
“We are delighted with the win. We have worked hard all semester for this and its finally paying off for us.
“Its an amazing feeling to move off the bottom of the table and we have shown today that we are capable of mirroring our abilities against the best and we portrayed that out there today.
Now with the seasonal break the 21-year-old paid close attention to continuing performances and gave his thoughts ahead of a big second-half of the season ahead.
He continued: “We need to continue on the right track and keep the team performances high. It’s a case now of looking ahead to the second-half of the season now, but first lets enjoy some turkey dinners.”
