REVIEW: Severn Stars lose out to Celtic Dragons

Severn Stars netball team lost a tightly contested match against Celtic Dragons at the Sport Wales National Centre.

Dragons ran out 49-40 winners as Severn Stars’ concentration lapse came into play.

This is their fifth game of the Vitality Netball Superleague 2018 season, but for the Gloucestershire side it has been a battling beginning of the season.

Sports reporter Morgan Payne spoke to goal shooter Eleanore Cardwell about yesterdays sixth loss:

“I think we started off strong, (Celtic) Dragons kept pushing us and really testing us and I really don’t think we had the confidence in ourselves to do what we wanted to do in the game. We fought to the end.

“We have to regroup and gather our thoughts. When we are trying so hard over the last six weeks we need to put that into our game.

Tomorrow Severn Stars are travelling to Wasps Netball court for another away game, their sixth of the season.

The last time the two teams met it ended in another loss for the stars at 68-43.

Heading into tomorrow Cardwell had this to say:

“I think its our concentration by starting off with our game plan and just being consistent so we can win.

“I don’t think this is effecting us massively, we do have new players coming in this season.

“We don’t want to be like robots on the court and adding our own flare into the game play is really key.

“We do have the game tomorrow against Wasps and last time we played them it was a competitive game and I want all the girls to put out a great performance and go for the win.

“I think we just need to keep the pressure up and really push them this time, we did in the last game but in the last game we took our foot off it and we need to keep it up for the full 60 minutes”.
