It’s a crucial day today in the fight for Premier League survival. Huddersfield Town host Swansea City, while Southampton travel to Newcastle in two crunch six-pointer games.
Swansea are the highest in the Premier League out of the four sides, sitting in 13th place, yet they are just three points above the relegation zone. Their opponents Huddersfield are level on points, 30, and sit in 15th due to a worse goal difference.
Swansea have enjoyed a second half of the season resurgence under coach Carlos Carvahal, and look to be the most likely of the four to stave off relegation, irregardless of current league position. The Swans have lost just one of their last five league games, winning three. The Terriers meanwhile have won two and lost three in their last five.
Newcastle sit just one point below Swansea and Huddersfield, and their opponents the Saints are another point below on 28.
Mauricio Pellegrino has struggled to effectively utilise the talent at his disposal this season, and Rafa Benitez has suffered with a lack of funds to adequately strengthen his squad. Both clubs have just one win from their last five league games, with the Magpies winless in two, and the Saints winless in three.
Meanwhile, 18th place Crystal Palace face a tough trip to Stamford Bridge, and West Brom host Leicester at the Hawthorns.
The results this weekend will likely shape how the relegation situation will unfold during the final months of the season.
