National League Preview: Forest Green Rovers vs Tranmere Rovers

Forest Green forward Keanu Marsh-Brown says his side will look to knock the 3-2 defeat at home to Lincoln “on the head” ahead of the visit of promotion-rivals Tranmere.

Rovers lost for the first time this season on Saturday at the New Lawn to Danny Cowley’s Imps, who closed the gap behind Mark Cooper’s men to six points.

Micky Mellon’s side are level on points with Saturday’s victors, Lincoln, and have only dropped two points since he was appointed manager in October.

Marsh-Brown was disappointed with the result and expects this to be a one off for his team.

“We are going to go into the game and look to get three points,” he said.

“That’s what we have been doing all season.

“With that game and that mindset – that’s all we want to do, is stay at the top of the league.

The performance of FGR defenders in the final 20 minutes was alarming, but Marsh-Brown believes the backline won’t disappoint when they face Mellon’s Tranmere.

“We have conceded three today,” Marsh-Brown said. “But if you look at the games that we have played we haven’t conceded a lot from set-pieces.

“We will knock this on the head and move onto Tuesday’s game.

“We are still six points clear at the top of the table – so, it’s not really a bad thing for us.”

Manager Cooper might be inclined to make a couple of changes to his side following their shock 3-2 defeat to Lincoln City, after being 2-0 up with 20 minutes to go.

Drissa Traore and Dale Bennett will push for starts after coming on in Saturday’s defeat and Fabien Robert (ankle) could be in contention to feature.

Meanwhile, Tranmere will have former Forest Green forwards James Norwood and Andy Mangan available for selection, following their victory away at Braintree on Saturday. Norwood, who is Rovers’ all time National League record scorer, returns from a two-match suspension.
