MATCH REPORT: West Brom back on track after convincing win

West Brom revive their fading play-off hopes after the controversial dismissal of Darren Moore, but Bersant Celina’s bizarre missed penalty remains a big talking point for the visitors.

Brunt opened the scoring with a free kick that evaded everyone in the area, including Swansea’s Kristoffer Nordfelt before an inspired performance from the Baggies’ Sam Johnstone kept the visitors at bay.

Swansea were awarded a dubious penalty just before half time but Celina lost his footing on the run up with his strike from the spot incredibly going sideways.

Mason Holgate doubled West Brom’s lead shortly after half time before Jay Rodriguez tapped home on the 86th minute, putting the game beyond Swansea’s grasp to round off the scoring.

Reflecting on Celina’s penalty, Swansea’s boss Graham Potter insists it will only improve the 22-year old:

“It’s one of those moments that you don’t wish on anybody. Fair play to anyone who wants to step up and take it but it’s a horrible moment he’ll have to get over and deal with. It’s easy to mock of course, I’m sure he’ll get a bit of that but that’s just life. He has the courage to take the penalty and it’s up to us to stick by him. He’ll grow and get better through the experience.
