With several of Gloucestershire’s top non-league teams out of the FA Trophy just three of them were in action this weekend which saw all three sides end the weekend without any points.
Gloucester City 0-2 Curzon Ashton
The Tigers’ National League North match-up with Curzon had plenty of drama with City stopper Jasbir Singh sent off for handling the ball outside of the box, which watching back clearly shows the ball hitting his chest. As a result, midfielder Joe Hanks had to step in goal. There was a penalty shout as well for Gloucester as once again a video replay clearly shows the ball strike the arm of a Curzon defender. The game was separated by Liam Tomsett and Adam Morgan’s strikes sealing victory for the Nash.
Hereford FC 2-0 Shortwood United
Promotion chasing Sherwood’s title hopes took a set back as they fell to a 2-0 loss against top spot Hereford FC. They started the day in second but the defeat now see’s them drop down two places to fourth. Jamie Molyneux and Jon Mills’ strikes at Edgar Street extended Hereford’s lead at the top to ten points, leaving Shortwood 12 points adrift. Having come into the game on the back of four wins and face Larkhall in domestic action tomorrow night.
Bishops Cleeve 0-1 Taunton Town
In FA Trophy action Bishops Cleeve were knocked out by Taunton Town at Kayte Lane. Taunton forward Owen Irish scored the only goal of the game and end the best ever run for Cleeve in the competition. Taunton had the chance to finish the tie well with a penalty in the last minute, but it was saved by the keeper.
