It’s officially been a month since the start of the jump race season, and it was another thrilling weekend in Cheltenham.
It was looking increasingly likely that the weekend could’ve fallen victim of foul weather, after Friday’s meeting was cancelled; however, Saturday and Sunday went ahead and crowds flooded through the gates.
The Jockey Club’s regional director Ian Renton spoke highly of the weekend’s crowds.
“It’s been two of the best days’ racing I can recall at the November meeting and we had 33,500 here yesterday and over 16,500 today, so the crowds have held up well,” he said.

The centre piece of the action came on Saturday afternoon. BetVictor Gold Cup Outsider Happy Diva claimed first place despite being priced at 14-1.
It’s been a contrasting year for Happy Diva and trainer Kerry Lee after the disappointment of falling during the same race last year. However, this time round it was worth the pain as they came out as champions.
Racing expert Cornelius Lysaght was full of praise for Happy Diva.
“There’s nothing quite like righting a sporting ‘wrong’, and that’s what Happy Diva and team achieved gloriously as the mare narrowly held off Brelan D’As,” he told BBC Sport.
Here’s Happy Diva edging past Brelan D’As on Saturday afternoon.
The next race meeting at Cheltenham will be on December 13-14 as The International takes place.
