Cheltenham’s Jack Lisowski made it to the final day at the Snooker Shoot Out in Watford, only to be knocked out by eventual finalist Zhou Yuelong.
Lisowski was one of the favourites for the competition, where matches are decided by just one ten minute frame.
Being one of the faster players on the tour, Lisowski was set to benefit from the 15 and then ten second shot clocks during the high paced tournament.
Lisowski is ranked 13 in the world
He beat Andy Hicks in round one with a break of 78 and then squeezed past Fraser Patrick 54-44.
With some of the other favourites out, Lisowski was expected to play a factor on the final day, but lost to Zhou Yuelong, who went on to reach the final.
Yuelong was beaten by Michael Holt in the final, who took his first ranking event title at the age of 41.
