In-form Cirencester Town striker turns down rival club

Prolific Cirencester Town striker Ben Whitehead has turned down a seven-day approach from  another team  to remain at the Corinium Stadium.

Whitehead is the Centurion’s top scorer this season with 8 league goals as they bid to return to the Southern League Premier division after relegation last season.

The former Didcot Town player arrived in the summer and took his tally to 12 in all competitions in a 2-2 draw at Paulton in the FA Trophy first round qualifying draw on Saturday.

Charlie Griffin’s men sit 15th in the South west table with the replay coming at home on Tuesday night.
