Bishops Cleeve slumped to a 1-0 defeat away at Didcot Town to remain at the foot of the table in the Division one Evo-Stik South West. The result leaves the side still in search of their first win of the season. Felipe Barcelos got the only goal of the game in the 45th minute to heap more pressure on manager Stephen Cleal.
Slimbridge AFC maintained their solid start to the season with a 3-0 win away at Barnstaple Town. The result meant Town continued their slide to 19th place. Marley Thomas, Adam Mace and Joseph Wilton with the goals for Freddy Ward’s side.
Elsewhere Cirencester and Yate Town played out a 4 – 4 draw in the bottom of the table clash. Yate Town’s 89th minute equaliser was enough to salvage a point. The game also featured a freak-goal from Yate goalkeeper Harvey Rivers, the second of his career in between the sticks. The result left both sides on 10 points in 18th and 20th respectively. Yate staying above Cirencester on goal difference.
Cinderford Town went down 4-2 at high flyers Bristol Manor Farm, Andrew Lewis got both of the goals for Paul Michaels’ side as they came from behind twice after early Troy Simpson goals. But second half goals from Jordan Metters and Dean Stamp collected the points for Farm.
Shortwood United also suffered a defeat as they lost to FA Cup nearly men Paulton Rovers. Paulton, playing fresh from their final qualifying round defeat to Sutton, beat the home side 3-2 thanks to goals from Jack Byrne, Tyrone Tucker-Dixon and Jack Ball. Joe White and Jack Freeman put the home side 2-1 up but they could not hold on for a vital 3 points as Paulton moved above United on goal difference.
