Evesham United manager Paul Collicutt is still aiming for promotion after a patchy start in the Southern League Division One South this season.
Collicutt is hoping to bounce back from Saturday’s defeat to Cirencester when his side face Winchester City tomorrow night.
Evesham have won five and lost five of their opening 12 games, sitting ninth in the table, but Collicutt is hoping his side can push on now after last seasons 4th place finish.
He said: “The ambition of our club is we’re looking for promotion. Results are the big thing now and we’ve got to be as positive as we can starting tomorrow. The best cure for us at the minute is to go and win a game of football, we need that badly.”
Missing out on promotion last season after reaching the play offs, the start to this season has been filled with mixed emotions for Paul Collicutt’s men.
Looking forward to tomorrow he commented on his side’s tough start but admits they remain positive going into their next games.
He said: “Having started the season the best we have, winning five early on, then all of a sudden getting a few injuries and suspensions and the continuity ion our squad has been knocked.
“We go to Winchester tomorrow night in a positive frame of mind, we know we need to get a good result.
“They’re going to be very difficult to beat on their own patch, they’ve beaten Cirencester there earlier in the season so we know we’re in for a tough game.”
Collicutt will welcome the return of Steve Davies, Liam Harding and Kai Simpson who all return to fitness, providing fresh options for the United boss.
After their trip to Winchester on Tuesday, Evesham travel to 19th place Barsntaple, but Collicutt is taking each game as it comes as he looks to push his side up the table.
