The Cheltenham November Meeting comes to town this weekend with the pinnacle race being the BetVictor Gold Cup at 2:25 on Saturday, Last year’s winner was Taquin Du Seuil, with the jockey being Aiden Coleman, This year there are many horses in the running to take the cup.
The favourite for the race is Kylemore Lough at 7/1, His trainer is Harry Fry, although the horse finished fourth in it’s last race at Aintree in April the horse comes into the race having won 50% of all races he has been in with 8 wins from 16 races and he’s only come outside the top three 5 times in his racing career. So a firm favourite who will take a lot of stopping in this race although their is a field of 45 horses in this race so anything could happen.
At 8/1 we have Tully East , His trainer is Alan Fleming , although this horse doesn’t have as quite as impressive stats as Kylemore Lough, the horse has significantly improved since new Jockey D F O’Regan has taken on the horse winning two of his first five horses with one of those wins coming in a race with 14 horses. His win record is only 25% so a win in every four races but he has been on the circuit since 2010 so have valuable experience.
Renam De Somain and Starchitect are joint third favourites in the race at 10/1, Renam De Somain is trained by P F Nicholls and although his win percentage is only 25% the horse has won his last two races so is in really good form going into the race and hopes to continue his form. Starchitect is trained by D Pipe has a 30% win percentage on jump races and a win in his last race out, shows that Starchitect might just pull something out of the bag and win this race.
The conditions for the course are to be good to soft in places, which should favour a lot of the horses. The weather conditions look dry on the Friday and Saturday so should make it easier for the jockeys on the day.
