Goalkeeper Scott Flinders was the hero on Saturday flicking on a last minute corner for Will Boyle to head home as the Robins gained a valuable point against an inform Luton Town.
It was an evenly-contested match but Luton took the lead through a Dan Potts header from a Alan Sheehan corner, Jamie Grimes equalised for the Robins, when he forced home a Harry Pell knock down to level the game at 1-1.
Luton looked to have won the game when Elliot Lee scored from close range after a ricochet landed at his foot to score with four minutes left, however Will Boyle headed home from Scott Flinders flick on in the seventh minute of added time to gain the robins a valuable point in their chase for the play offs.
Boyle told the club’s official website: “It’s definitely my goal, Scotty (Flinders) has already got his one goal for his career. We live together so we were talking about that in the kitchen earlier today. He’s happy with one goal in his career – but he could have had two. He’s delighted to get an assist.”
As Boyle said Flinders has already scored a goal in the Football League whilst playing for Hartlepool against Bournemouth in April 2011. He came up from the back to head home a 94th minute equaliser from a corner, a very good header that strikers would even be happy about. It was similar to the assist he gave Boyle on Saturday to level the game 2-2.
It doesn’t get any easier for the robins as they travel to table-topping Notts County hoping to gain points to push them up towards those play-off places.
