The Alan King-trained six-year old Sceau Royal will mis the Racing Post Arkle Novices’ Chase at the Cheltenham Festival after a minor setback.
Sceau Royal is four from five over the fences so far this season and prior to this setback was a hot pick to increase that impressive statistic.
King told ‘SportingLife.com’: “It is just a little niggle, but it is enough to stop us and we have taken the decision we will not be taking him to Cheltenham.”
Racing expert Nick Evry said that despite her great form and résumé Sceau Royal’s absence will “change very little” in the overall outcome.
“Footpad is the most likely winner and I’d put Petit Mouchoir not far behind… the spanner in the works could be Saint Calvados if the ground remains very soft.”
He also added that this is “the highest quality field of an Arkle in a very long time.”
