The Gloucestershire teams: Recent performances in the cup

Cheltenham Town

Cheltenham Town’s efforts in the FA Cup have been up and down in the last few years. In 2013 they lost to Tamworth who were, at the time, a league below them. The following year they managed to get through to the second round have beating Swindon Town 5-0. Swindon were in the league above Cheltenham at the time. They did however go onto to get knocked out by Dover Athletic. In 2015 they lost away to Hartlepool United 1-0 but beat Crewe Alexandra 4-1 in a first round replay the following year. They ended up being knocked out in the second round by Sutton United that year. Finally, last season certainly wasn’t one to remember for the Robins when they lost 4-2 to Maidstone United at home.

Forest Green Rovers

In the last five years Forest Green Rovers have done quite well in the FA Cup. Between 2013 and 2016 the club were in the National League but managed to get to the first round proper three times. They went even further on two of these occasions before losing in the second round to Scunthorpe United and Oxford United.

Last season Rovers were involved in an entertaining 3-3 draw when they played Exeter City in the first round but went onto lose in the replay.

Gloucester City

Gloucester City have only made it to the first round proper once in the last five seasons as they are currently situated in the National League south. This was in 2013 when they eventually lost to Fleetwood Town 0-2 at home.
