English teams learn their Champions League fate

Premier League champions Leicester City will face Europa League winners Sevilla in the last 16 of the Champions League.

Arsenal were drawn against Bayern Munich for the third time in four years while Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City face French high fliers AS Monaco.

Leicester, who have struggled to recapture their form from last season, avoided Real Madrid and Bayern Munich but will face a tough tie against Sevilla who have won the Europa League for the past three seasons.

Group winners Arsenal can count themselves unlucky to be drawn against German champions Bayern Munich. Arsene Wenger’s side, like Leicester City, avoided Spanish giants Real Madrid but will be underdogs when they face the German champions.

Manchester City, runners-up to Barcelona in Group C, avoided the big guns and will be happy at the prospect of facing Monaco. The French side beat Tottenham Hotspurs twice in Group E and knocked Arsenal out at the last 16 stage two years ago.

2016 Champions League winners Real Madrid will face French champions Paris Saint Germain. Atletico Madrid, the team Real beat in the final, will be confident of progressing to the quarter-finals after being drawn against German side Bayer Leverkusen.
