Defi Du Seuil came out on top in the first race of the day at Cheltenham as the 3/1 favourite grabbed the win from Lostintranslation.
The 9/2 shot led for almost all of the race but thanks to a fantastic jump over the last fence, Defi gained speed and got past just before the post while Mengli Khan (16/1) came in third.
Owner Phillip Hobbs told ITV after the dramatic finish: “He is amazing. We are all absolutely delighted with the victory.
While the owners of Lostintranslation Taylor & O’Dwyer were still positive with their horse’s result.
They said: “He jumped fantastically well. You are always looking back at McManus’ colours, but we are absolutely delighted to come second overall.”
