Cheltenham Town women set a new attendance record as they beat Super League crowds

A record crowd of 375 people saw Cheltenham Town Ladies claim a late 2-2 draw against Swindon Town at the Jonny-Rocks Stadium on Saturday evening.

A Cheltenham Town spokesperson said, “Our attendance at the Jonny-Rocks Stadium was among the 10 highest crowds in whole of women’s league football this weekend. Higher even than one Women’s Super League match. Thank you everyone for helping to put us on the map.”

Played immediately after the men’s clash of the same teams the women set out to impress the record crowd in a thrilling four goal tie.

The draw leaves them in third, but they could drop down to fourth if Buckland win both their remaining games.

Buckland’s game against Southampton Ladies will prove a stern test and could well be the obstacle that helps seal Cheltenham’s formidable turnaround from last season.

Despite only claiming 10 points in the entirety of last year’s campaign The Robins have amassed 40 points so far this season with a game to go away to Larkhall.
