Cheltenham Town vs Cambridge United – All you need to know ahead of the League Two clash

Cheltenham Town host Cambridge United in Sky Bet League Two on Tuesday night as they look to get back to winning ways.

The Robins were beaten 3-1 by top-of-the-table Notts County on Saturday, while Cambridge were thrashed 7-0 by Luton Town.

Here is all you need to know ahead of the match.

When is it and where?

Kick off at the LCI Rail Stadium is 7:45pm.

Where are both teams sitting in the league table?

After 18 games, Cambridge sit 14th, with Cheltenham two positions behind in 16th.

A win for Cambridge could lift them as high as 9th, while three points for Cheltenham would bring them above Tuesday’s opposition.

If Forest Green Rovers can win on the road against Chesterfield, both teams could enter El Glosico this weekend level on 22 points.

Any team news?

Gary Johnson’s side were badly hampered by injuries for Saturday’s game, with striker Brian Graham absent with a hamstring injury.

The Scotsman is in contention to return for the Cambridge game.

Loanee Freddie Hinds missed the game with tonsillitis and Jon Flatt was also injured, resulting in a call up to the bench for Rhys Lovett. It is likely they will both miss Tuesday’s game.

Kevin Dawson will continue to serve a three game ban after picking up a red card in their 4-2 FA Cup defeat to Maidstone United.

Jordan Cranston, Jordan Forster and Jaanai Gordon remain long-term absentees.

What is the head to head record between the two sides?

United won both league matches last season, with a 3-1 victory at home before a 1-0 win on the road in March.

The Robins won both league matches in the 2014/15 season, with goals from Shaun Harrad, Danny Haynes and Matt Sparrow sealing a 3-1 home win.

In all competitions, the two sides have met nine times, with Cambridge winning five, Cheltenham victorious on three occasions and one draw.

How have Cambridge been playing in recent weeks?

Cambridge were on a five game unbeaten run in the league until their heavy defeat on Saturday.

Their run included home wins over Yeovil Town and Chesterfield, and draws with Lincoln City, Grimsby Town and Accrington Stanley.

Shaun Derry’s side have only won one of their last seven away games in all competitions, scoring only four goals in the process.

Who is their star man?

Uche Ikpeazu is United’s top scorer with six league goals to date.

The 22-year-old started his career at Reading, before signing for Watford in 2013.

He didn’t make a senior appearance, and had six different loan spells with clubs including Crewe Alexandra, Doncaster Rovers and Blackpool.

The striker signed for Cambridge in August 2016 after a trial with Championship club Norwich City.
