Cheltenham Hockey Club end eight-game losing streak

Cheltenham Hockey Club dominated Isca at Cheltenham College ending in a two-nil win for the first time in eight games Sunday afternoon.

The home side are now ninth in the table, two points from bottom just ahead of Clifton Robinsons. Cheltenham beat Clifton Robinsons at the beginning of the season which was previously the only game Cheltenham had won.

This victory comes as a ‘must win’ game for Cheltenham as it’s the last game before the Christmas break when they stop playing games and continue training until it resumes in February.

Cheltenham Men’s goalkeeper Sam Cathie had his first shut out of the season with the 2-0 victory at Cheltenham College.

Cheltenham’s goals both came without a minute of each other with Craig Graham scoring first followed by Sam Carter both field goals.

As this is the final game before the Christmas break, Cheltenham have won two of their eight matches which means they are finishing this side of the year with six points.

With their next game being 4th February home to Team Bath Buccaneers at Cheltenham College.

Their previous encounter with Team Bath ended in a loss of 5-0 as they had the home advantage, but in a few months the tables will turn to the advantage for Cheltenham.

As ‘Winter is coming’ this is how the league table stands as the break ensures Cheltenham more time to address their start to the season and to see if things can change in the new year.
