The qualifying round tie finished all square on Saturday, after a 1-1 draw at Whitby.
Joe Hanks got an equaliser for City in added time, after Whitby took the lead through a second-half penalty.
Northern Premier League side Whitby also had a second-half penalty saved, but Hanks’ 10th goal of the season took the tie to a replay at the Jubilee Stadium.
The draw for the fourth qualifying round takes place this afternoon, with teams from last year’s League Two sides Notts County and Yeovil to the lowest ranked sides left in the competition Colne FC and Manor Farm FC learning their opponents.
