Gloucester Rugby’s scrum half Ben Vellacott is confident in his ability to perform whether it be from the bench or starting at scrum-half.
The Devon-born half-back who is renowned for the pace and tempo he brings to a game says that he will adapt his game if he is to start.
“Some people believe that because I bring that tempo and energy when I come on that means I can’t start.”
“However, I’d like to believe that I do have that control that is needed to start, whilst still having the energy that can bring a team to life.”, said Vellacott.
Vellacott has been used as a replacement for the Cherry and Whites 6 times so far this season, most recently in their 27-21 defeat to Pau.
“I always try and put all the energy I have into however many minutes I get.”
“I’d like to think that when I get on the pitch I can spark a bit of energy through my pace, getting to spaces and the speed of ball.”
Vellacott was speaking ahead of Gloucester’s European Challenge Cup clash with Agen at Kingsholm this Thursday, kick off is 19.45.
