Average age decreases as golf clubs try to get younger generations involved

For many years now golf has been labeled as being ‘an old mans sport’. However, golf clubs around the country have been doing all they can to try and change that.

The average age of a golf player in the UK a few years ago was 50. But now, with golf clubs changing their strategies attempting to draw the younger generation into the sport. They seem to be working. This year a study was revealed that the average age of a golfer is now at the age of 40, a remarkable difference recorded over the last three years.

The UK have really pulled away from the US. Where the average age over there is as high as 55. With the introduction of a change in the way memberships have previously been organised as well as a change in the golfing lessons, it’s clear golf as a sport is moving in the right direction.
